Tarantola is an organic wine estate, 60km west of Palermo, that has been owned by the Conte Testa family for generations. It sits amongst the rolling hills of the Alcamo doc region, with an 18th century farmhouse at its centre looking out over miles of vineyards and olive groves.
Tarantola is the ideal spot for anyone wanting an oasis of calm away from the city, or a country base within easy reach of the sites of western Sicily.
At Tarantola we believe in creating a relaxed atmosphere and making people feel at home. We want you to get the most out of your visit. We’re just as happy showing you round the estate, or talking to you about the wine making, or suggesting itineraries and helping you plan your day trips, or leaving you to your own devices so that you can absorb the tranquillity around you.
At Tarantola you can enjoy an informal wine tasting; eat a scrumptious dinner based on traditional recipes; have fun making your own lunch at a Sicilian cookery class; watch grapes and olives being harvested and pressed; explore the area by foot, bike or on horseback; book yourself onto a historic tour of the region; drive to the nearby beaches at Castellamare del Golfo; or just sit on the terrace enjoying the sunshine and listening to the sounds of nature on a Mediterranean hillside.
Love of the land, passion for wine and for tradition, respect for nature.
That is our philosophy.
Welcome to Tarantola.
That is our philosophy.
Welcome to Tarantola.
‘‘We were searching for a break, a pause. What we desired was a real working farm, a small number of guests, good food - organic if possible, a quiet retreat without the frills and fancies that would tempt noisy revelers, a place where the eye would meet only nature on all sides…we got all this and more at Tarantola’
